CRKT Hissatsu

The Hissatsu has a razor-sharp edge with a blade length of 7.125” with an overall length of 12.25”.

Former Army officer James Williams is the designer of the Hissatsu.  Mr. Williams also designs Samurai swords and has a deep martial arts background.  He based the design of the Hissatsu in an old Japanese design made famous by the Samurai warlord Takeda Shingen.  This particular design allows for extreme penetrating power with enormous slashing capability in a single blade.  This blade is a modern version of that design with close quarters combat in mind.  The blade is made of 440A stainless steel with a high satin, black EDP, or Desert Tan coating.  The handle is double injection molded with a high impact polypropylene core with a non slip Kraton surface.

What we think:

This knife is very beautiful piece of work that is extremely functional at the same time.  It is easy to see the old Japanese and Samurai roots in this design.  The Hissatsu has a very long and slender blade that is slightly curved and razor sharp.  The Hissatsu comes with an injection molded Zytel sheath that fits the knife like a glove.  There are also multiple mounting points on the back for a high, low, vertical, or horizontal carrying positions.  It also has holes in the sheath that can be secured on other equipment.

This knife has only one purpose and that is to inflict severe and/or fatal injury of an attacker.  It is intended for use by military or law enforcement professionals and in some states will require a concealed carry permit to carry it.  The Hissatsu is extremely well balanced and can be wielded with minimal effort.  It is a very comfortable knife to hold and for its size is relatively light weight.  With a little bit of practice you can quickly remove the knife and “produce it” in a close quarter situation.  I do not recommend that you practice with this knife however because you risk getting an extremely bad laceration.  CRKT makes a trainer version of this knife and it is the same size and weight as the real one.  It is a great knife to carry when a gun is not an option but some type of defense is warranted.  I carry mine quite often as a back up to my handgun and in situations in which close guard on an individual in a crowded area is the mission.  It is well made for its intent and without getting to graphic or detailed could carry out its mission with no problem.
