I tested the lighter version of this ammo at the same time I tested this on a request from one of my local gun shops. This ammo is just a bit heavier and from the numbers a bit slower. It states that the ammo travels at 990fps an delivers 320 ft lbs of energy. Lets see how it tests.
The sheetrock test proved to show similar results as the 127gr counterpart. The penetration was 12 layers with zero expansion. The cavity of the bullet was completely filled with the sheetrock material. I decided to test this one in the water test just to get an idea of what “ideal expansion” would look like, and it was great. So I kinda see what kind of damage it would do to a person if it got the chance to expand.

My opinion: Still the same issues that plague the sxt line, Small hollowpoint cavity. In a defense round you need expansion, on all scenarios, not just soft tissue ones. I knows there was all this hype about this ammo being cop killers, but that was before a lot of people really know what ammo did. Now. Its just another ammo that doesn’t expand if you hit a wall. I don’t recommend this ammo. for a few reasons. 1. you cant by it anymore and 2. its just not an all around good round to carry. Its good for penetration. But when are you going to plan to need a round that is just good at that? If you were considering this ammo for carry, I would say keep looking.
